About This Rug
This wonderful and unusual rug design was taken directly from the oldest known knotted carpet, which is in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia. Fragments were found in Siberia in the grave of a prince which clearly show how well hand-knotted rugs were made centuries ago. Radiocarbon dating shows it was made in the 5th century! The geometric design and horses around the border make it an appealing rug for our less formal homes. This one, hand-knotted in Pakistan from handspun, natural dye wool, is available in a variety of sizes and by custom order. (Learn more general information on tribal rugs.)
